inDiscover Help
What is inDiscover?
inDiscover is designed to help bring independent music to new listeners. Songs are provided by independent artists from around the world in mp3 format which are then rated by users.
How do I submit my music?
Once you’ve registered you can add an artist page on the My inDiscover page.
1. Under Actions click on the Edit Artists link
2. Fill out the required fields
3. Click Add Artist. Your band name will now appear in the right hand column.
4. Click on the Edit icon (it looks like a pencil)
5. Scroll down to the Add Song button.
6. Fill in the song names and the other required fields (you can come back and add the details later if you wish)
7. Click Next to find your song on your computer. Now you can upload your first song or add additional songs, up to 20-25mb at a time.
8. Click upload and an email will be sent to you letting you know that the songs are now available on inDiscover. Congrats!
Why isn’t my artist profile showing up?
You have to upload at least one song before your account is considered active, so get uploading so people can hear your music.
How can I get an artist spotlight for my band?
To be considered for a spotlight spot your profile needs to have a band photo, a biography and a minimum of three songs uploaded. Artists will be picked based on ratings popularity and the number of streams they have had.
How does the rating system work?
Using a technique called collaborative filtering, we are able to predict how much a given user would like a specific song based on how they have previously rated other songs. After a user rates a song, they are presented with two playlists; one of songs that we KNOW that they like, and one of songs we THINK they will like.
By rating songs along different categories (eg. how well would a song be to listen to while working out?) we are able to compose playlists for each of those categories (eg. a playlist of songs we think you would like to workout to).
How can I find something I like?
Register as a new user, or login if you already have an account and start rating. Good starting points include the Top 10 List, Search Page and Browse Page. After rating a song, you will be presented with a list of songs we think you will like (these are your playlists). Give one a listen and see if you really do like it. Then keep rating! The more songs you rate, the better we will be able to tell what you are going to like.
