Born in British Columbia as the sixth child in a musical family of 10, Alexz Johnson is often cited as being born to sing. By age 9, she was taking singing lessons and by 15 she was writing her own music alongside her brother Brendan.
At the age of 18, Alexz landed the principal role of Jude Harrison in Instant Star, a Gemini Award winning drama series, which premiered September 2004 on CTV and on The N network (Nickelodeon) in the U.S.
The series was also licensed in 120 other countries. Instant Star was a perfect way to combine Alexz’s musical talents with her passion for acting, and it also gave Alexz and her brother the opportunity to write that were featured on the soundtrack for all four seasons of the series. On October 21, 2008, Alexz won the Gemini Award for Best Performance in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series, for the Instant Star episode entitled 'Let It Be'. Other television credits for Alexz include The Chris Isaak Show, The Collector, Cold Squad and Smallville. Film credits for Alexz include Final Destination 3, Devil’s Diary and Stranger With My Face.
After a short time with Capitol Records in Los Angeles as well as Epic Records, Alexz is now with Orange Lounge Recordings’ new imprint, inDiscover Recordings and has released her debut album, entitled Voodoo, on March 30th, 2010. "Trip Around The World" was the first single released off Voodoo. The video for Trip was filmed in New Orleans, January 2010. Trip Around the World is an upbeat, rhythmic song that will have people singing along to in no time!
